SRT / VTT Subtitle Converter is a free tool that runs entirely in your browser, with no data ever sent to a server. Convert an SRT subtitle file to VTT, or the other way around.

What it's for

Adapt subtitles to the format expected by a web video player (VTT), or convert back to SRT for editing software that doesn't read VTT.

What this tool does not do

This tool only converts the timecode format and the file header. Advanced VTT-specific styling (positioning, colors) is not interpreted.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between SRT and VTT?

VTT (WebVTT) is the format used by web video players (the <track> tag): it starts with the "WEBVTT" header and separates milliseconds with a period. SRT, older, separates milliseconds with a comma and has no such header.

Is my data sent to a server?

No: the text you type or paste is processed entirely in your browser, on your device. It is never transmitted to a server.

Do I need to create an account or install anything?

No: the tool works directly in this page, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
