Rotate or Flip an Image is a free tool that runs entirely in your browser, with no data ever sent to a server. Rotate by 90° and apply a horizontal or vertical mirror.

Rotation and mirroring, two different moves

Rotation turns the image around its center: at 90 and 270 degrees, width and height swap. Mirroring, on the other hand, flips the image like a mirror would, without changing its dimensions. The two combine: a 90-degree rotation followed by a horizontal mirror covers most straightening needs.

Why does my photo already look straight?

Cameras and phones record orientation in EXIF metadata, and viewers apply it at display time. The tool reads this information and bakes it into the output file: the image will look straight everywhere, including in software that ignores EXIF.

What this tool does not do

This tool does not read HEIC photos (the default on some iPhones): convert them to JPEG from the device first. On a PNG, compression changes the format rather than truly reducing the size, since the browser cannot produce a reduced-palette PNG.

Frequently asked questions

Does rotation degrade quality?

The rotation itself is exact: at 90, 180, or 270 degrees, pixels are simply moved. It's re-encoding the JPG that costs a little quality. Above 90%, the loss is negligible; in lossless PNG or WebP, it's zero.

Can I process several images at once?

Yes, the setting applies to the whole batch. For different rotations per photo, process them in several passes.

Are my files sent to a server?

No: processing happens entirely in your browser, on your device. No file is ever transmitted to a server, at any point.
