Add a Watermark is a free tool that runs entirely in your browser, with no data ever sent to a server. Mark your photos with text, with adjustable position, size, and opacity.

What a watermark is for

A watermark discourages unauthorized reuse of a photo and identifies its author, especially when an image circulates beyond where you published it. It doesn't legally protect a work on its own, but it makes deliberate removal more visible.

Choosing a position

A discreet corner is enough for everyday use. The repeated diagonal position makes cropping out the watermark noticeably harder, at the cost of a more intrusive look: reserve it for images you really don't want to see reused.

What this tool does not do

This tool does not read HEIC photos (the default on some iPhones): convert them to JPEG from the device first. On a PNG, compression changes the format rather than truly reducing the size, since the browser cannot produce a reduced-palette PNG.

Can the watermark be removed?

A corner watermark, on a single area, can be cropped or retouched by a motivated person. The repeated position is noticeably harder to erase cleanly, since it covers the whole image.

Can I use a logo instead of text?

This version only handles text. For a logo, more advanced area selection or compositing would require a dedicated tool, not yet available here.

Are my files sent to a server?

No: processing happens entirely in your browser, on your device. No file is ever transmitted to a server, at any point.
