Add or remove line breaks
Split a list on a separator into distinct lines, or join lines back into a single text.
Line breaks is a free tool that runs entirely in your browser, with no data ever sent to a server. Split a list on a separator into lines, or join lines back into one text.
Two opposite operations
Add cuts the text at every occurrence of the chosen separator (a comma, a semicolon, a tab) and places each piece on its own line : handy for turning a list copied from a spreadsheet into one line per value. Remove does the opposite : it joins every line back together with the separator of your choice.
What this tool does not do
This tool only applies the transformation described above, with no spelling correction and no understanding of the text's meaning. A text of tens of thousands of lines is processed instantly ; beyond that, the only limit is your device's memory.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a tab as separator?
Yes, by typing an actual tab in the field, or by pasting a text that already contains one.
Is my data sent to a server?
No : the text you type or paste is processed entirely in your browser, on your device. It is never transmitted to a server.
Do I need to create an account or install anything?
No : the tool works directly on this page, with no sign-up and no install.
