Counting the endpoints, or not

Does a three-day deadline starting on Monday end on Wednesday or Thursday? It depends on whether the arrival day counts. By default this tool computes the plain gap, like a subtraction: from 1 to 3 March there are two days. The “count the end day as well” option gives three, which matches how hotel nights or holiday days are counted.

Calendar days and working days

Administrative deadlines are often expressed in working days, meaning Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. The count shown here removes weekends but not public holidays, which depend on the country, the region and sometimes the collective agreement.

Leap years

The calculation runs on real dates, not a theoretical 365-day year: 29 February in leap years is properly included. An interval crossing 2028, for instance, will count that extra day.

What this tool does not do

This tool removes no public holidays and knows no national calendar. It handles neither hours nor time zones: the calculation works on whole days, in the Gregorian calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the result differ by a day between websites?

Because they do not all count the endpoints the same way. Some include the start day, some the end day, some both. The checkbox here lets you choose explicitly.

How do I count a deadline in business days including Saturday?

This tool shows Monday to Friday only. For a count that includes Saturdays, add the number of Saturdays in the period to the figure shown.

Is my data sent to a server?

No: the text you type or paste is processed entirely in your browser, on your device. It is never transmitted to a server.

Do I need an account or an install?
